SURVIVAL IN THE SEA OF ECONOMIC CHAOS

What is “Dynamic Business Leadership?” To understand what we mean by this term, think about a business leader as the captain of a ship. When navigating in calm seas, the captain can reach the desired destination by relying on experience and direction from the stars. That approach is sufficient, even if the ship is old and fragile.

However, just to stay afloat in stormy and foggy weather, the ship has to be seaworthy; and the captain must be able to rapidly make and implement critical, life–saving decisions. The captain also needs to use modern navigation tools for frequent course corrections in order to have a reasonable chance of guiding his/her ship through the treacherous and unfamiliar waters and reaching shore intact.

In today’s (and also most likely tomorrow’s) disruptive economic environment, leading a business in trouble to “safe shores” is much the same. In crisis situations, a business leader must be decisive, adaptable, and able to make change happen rapidly. In addition, he/she must make use of the best information and management tools available in order for those actions to be effective. These characteristics are the key elements of what we call “Dynamic Business Leadership.”
